Rev. Thomas C. Hartley, D. Min.
I specialize in individual and family counseling.  My doctoral dissertation was in the area of Parenting.  I focused on helping parents develop a positive faith to strengthen the family, develop self esteem in their children, and concentrate on skills in problem solving, communication, and discipline.  I have completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education in the hospital setting and 125 hours of clinically supervised individual and family counseling.  I have extensive counseling experience in the areas of grief and loss, marriage and family, parenting, and single parent counseling with youth and children.
I have enjoyed serving our Detroit Presbytery in the Committee on Preparation for Ministry helping candidates fulfill requirements for ordination in Word and Sacrament, in preparation for standard ordination exams, and in evaluating field education experiences and personal assessment of spiritual gifts for ministry.
My late wife, Sherrie, and I are the proud parents of two married sons, Tom and his wife Lindsay, their children Cara, Craig, and Kelsey; Chris and his wife Lana, and their beautiful daughters Addison and Charlotte. Over the years I have greatly enjoyed nature and outdoor activities.  I'm an avid MSU Spartan fan!  Go Green! Go White!
